Dendermonde, Belgium
Supervisor Ar. Christophe Polack
Dendermonde, a fortified town has a rich architectural heritage. The Kazerne, once a barrack, was abandoned and only used to store the Ros Beirard and used as a parking space. Ros Beirard is a UNESCO heritage event which happens once in ten years. The idea was to convert the Kazerne into a urban living room, corresponding to the offices, residences and cultural centre in the neighbourhood.
